In the argus today poyet says he wants to get to the final and will use the Sidley game to bring some first teamers back from injury, including the captain. He is worried about the state of the pitch ! and wants to see some young players - hall and barkers chance then.

Crawley down won 1-0 and burgess hill and horsham drew. As it says above sidley play brighton tonight and boro play rustington next tuesday in the last two third round ties.

Tonights game between Sidley and BHA reserves is off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Crawley Down have done fabulously well to reach the semi-finals. Would be nice for a County League side to reach the final.

If Brighton beat Sidley that means we are down to play the winners in w/b 28 March (final date to be agreed by the two clubs). Do Brighton always switch to play away in this competition or does a deal have to be done to play at the Pan i.e. split receipts etc? - I would expect a good crowd for this - about 500 - or is this being optimistic?

Brighton and Boro miss each other in the semi final draw......................................cue Guiam Sussex FA rant , fiddle etc. ;D You can't blame him. This seems to happen every year. I understand no-one from the clubs actually witnesses the draw. It all seems very hush-hush and the draw outcome just seems to appear randomly. Utterly disgraceful. A few seasons ago there was talk that the draw was going to be more transparent. Huh.....so much for that.

no rant...just the sheer nonsense of a system that is so predicable. anyone who knows me from way back will say that i have been complaining about this competition for many years. this is not new. as a result of my bitter bile....as it must be...many people have had a go at me. the draw is not public...despite previous complaints and the promise that it would be. why is it not...simple. the suits want the money. if the amex final had not come along, it was a boro v albion final at the swamp. i predict that the same will happen next season. that is, unless some clubs actually raise this. sepp blater would be proud of their fiddles. i'd love to see the albion at the pan with a big crowd...goodness knows we need the turnover, but only as a result of a FAIR draw. now.....lets ask what culver rd. intend to do with their amex windfall.

Perhaps they will buy some balls and a velvet bag to do a proper draw.
