It seems Shoreham have a Kevin Keehan playing for them. They also have a Gareth Green. I wonder if that is "Gnasher" who used to grace the Pan in Jimmy Quinns days? He was good back then.

Yes, it is was the same Gnash as posted by Billy. He replaced Dom with about 25 mins to go. Hi Billy, back to the Quay anytime soon? ATB Ralph

Argus report - Rooks outmuscle Shoreham - Ben Godfrey scored twice to help Lewes into the third round of the senior cup. Tim Rivers was also on target as a makeshift side won 3-1 away to county league outfit Shoreham. Recent signing Godfrey opened the scoring from an acute angle on 34 minutes but the Musselmen levelled six minutes later when Graham Martin's 30 yard free kick beat young goalkeeper JJ Banasco-Zaragoza. Lewes went back in front midway through the second half when Rivers let fly from 25 yards. Victory was sealed when Godfrey beat team-mate Paul Olima to the rebound when his own shot was saved. Lewes debuts followed for Bowles, Howells and Schaff on for Hamilton, Lang and Olima respectively. Possible next round opponents Bognor went down to Hampton 2-0 in a Trophy replay. They play County League outfit Seaford on the 30th snow permitting.

A comfortable win. Lewes spurned some really good chances which would have made it much more emphatic. Shoreham put a lot of effort in but I think they scored with their only real proper shot on target with JJ caught off his line I think. After half time it was one way traffic and the result never in doubt.

To be honest I didn't particularly notice anyone standing out from the rest, and for some of them I was asking "who's that?" Most played their part pretty efficiently against limited opposition. Olima had a bit of a 'mare though. He should have scored a couple himself but on several occasions seemed to get the ball caught up under his feet or slipped over. JJ will be disappointed with the goal he conceded too. Godfreys opening goal was a beauty. The angle was very acute when he received the ball after a bit of a goalmouth scramble but he chipped it over the keeper into the far side-netting of the goal. Rivers goal was a lovely strike from a central position probably 10 yards outside the box. It hit the back of the net at about 5 feet and still rising.

I guess Bognor and Seaford will need an orange ball tomorrow in the snow - little chance of game going ahead i guess and the cunning plan of a sussex cup game on the 11th looking remote. . If the bromley game goes as well then a 5 week gap in home games - this happened last year didnt it?
