Go compare. Offer to this guy, who was outstanding last season, just defies belief. No wonder he thinks he's got no chance. Ask how many of the faithful are represented by an agent. Ask who the agent is.

Nothing changes from my previous post. A budget is a budget. We can't have it both ways. We were relegated last season despite Breachy's most valiant efforts. I do not know the figures offered but unless the football income is vital to Breachy's standard of living then if I was him I'd rather be playing for fun and associated with a successful promotion-seeking team that puts him in the shop window for greater things to come than be that dreaded word a 'journeyman' in an 'also ran' team. Interestingly I have heard this evening that Blue Square have installed Lewes FC as 7 - 2 favourites to win the Ryman Premier next season. This price is clearly based on Kingy's reputation as a winner - not on the names so far declared for his squad. I was also reminded by that fantastic Lewes FC supporter Brian 'The Badge' Ashdown that he (along with a few other fans but not, alas, me) took 16 - 1 with Blue Square for Lewes to win the Championship at the start of the 2007 - 2008 season. Now 7-2 is not an attractive wager but then horses with 'king' in their name lately keep winning. Incredibly including one called 'Fire King' just the other day. You can bet that Howardwotsit was on it!

A fair post David. If the budget is exceeded, ultimately the Board will be responsible though the manager must shoulder blame also as he is aware of the budget then he must manage accordingly. I don't see SAF being loyal to players once they have reached beyond their usefulness. I'm afraid it is one of the more unpleasant tasks of a manager but to be successful these decisions have to be made.

Breachy was amongst our better players last season undoubtedly. On the other hand I don't think he was that outstanding that he could not be replaced, and SK clearly has his own plans with the budget available.
As Willo says, the tough decisions have to be made as well as the popular ones.
What a shame if our final reminder of Breach and Winterton was that rather unseemly scuffle as we sank without trace at the last home game.

David, Willo, two good posts, both balanced. have to disagree slightly with David on one issue, I think BSS have looked at Kingy AND the players signed to date and then made their informed decision, bookies not usually far wrong.

I think it is a shame that the squad has changed completely but a few of King's players (!) have played for us before so not a total change. Shame no youngsters stay but very few under 23s seem to be able to cope at this level so the gap between u18 and 24+ is big.
I would have definitely signed Wheeler and Hamilton (and I believe King did try to sign Wheeler). I might have signed Barness if he honestly thought himself he had another season as a sub across the back and wanted to do this. Breach was another possible as I am sure he can cope at this level so that it is the only other one that would be on the list. Walder and Ide are difficult to judge given their serious injuries. So I think King is probably doing the right thing from a football rather than loyalty perspective. He is a winner first and foremost and he wants Lewes FC to win matches that might not always sit well with a "community" club but I am not sure how else a manager can manage!

:DThen there was King Kurt (yes, really) winning at 6 -1 in the 3pm at Pontefract yesterday. Tough call today as there are no less than four horses running in England that have 'King' in their name. Decisions, decisions. King Ferdinand in the 7.20 at Kempton seems the best bet but wil only be circa 2 - 1. Or how about King of Wing in the 4.30 at Lingfield followed by Bravo King in the 5pm on the same course.

Porkpie , Walders injury wasnt as you stated ,serious . It was just a case of getting the keyhole surgery done and because he wasn't private he had to wait for the NHS to fit him in which took 5 months. Prem players would have had the op within a week. He is fully fit now.

i thought walder had the same injury as ide which was a ruptured cruciate , i do believe that to be a serious injury and the player is out for around 6 months plus in which time they have a lot of physio ,even in the prem

:DBumped into Steve King in Lewes today and he's definitely tickled pink about all these horse race coincidences. Unfortunately he doesn't gamble or drink (but then we all have our weaknesses) otherwise he might have profited from Bravo King the 7-2 winner of the 5pm at Lingfield. Another 'royal' connection came up 30 minutes earlier when Crowning Star and King of Wing finished first and second in the Lingfield 4.30pm to yield a very nice forecast pay-out. Cue spooky Twilight Zone music.

That fills a space. I think we have one or two keepers, definitely a back four and three strikers. Now we have Cade and Somner in midfield - Holloway when ready and Wormull as necessary. I may have missed a couple of signings who may be midfielders. Looking good.

Holloway is one of the best players in the BSS so to have him and this guy in the middle is just great
I still think on our shopping list we need
Another keeper A right back Chris Breach to stay Left winger

We only had one last season and we're on a tighter budget this year. King's definitely going for quality over quantity.

I guess your right Boovidge and if the keeper does get sent off etc we can just grab a keeper on loan from a football league club like we did last season

Good signing. Someone with a bit of experience to put a foot on the ball.
