I'm a doubter.
What can I say? Gut feeling is just that I have profound misgivings about King being the right man for the CFC.
But I hope it works out. I really do.

Just keep the WD40 handy. Tosh maintained the revolving door last season, but it might need a splash of lube come August! Has Jack Walder really left for Hastings already? Tosh removed the door completely I thought with players seemingly wandering in and out at random.

The main difference between Tosh and King's revolving doors was that those coming through King's could actually play!

I reckon most of us could probably name about half the team that Lewes will put out for the first league game in August now.

I, for one, very much hope so!! I watched the whole of that Farnborough game with a tear in my eye! I am slightly ashamed to say I didn't mind losing either... they felt more like a Lewes side than the one I watched for the second half of last season!!

pj ur right.... just thumb through a farnboro matchday programme from last season ;-)
In respect of a revolving door policy. I remember this being a huge criticism during SK's last spell here. It does nothing to foster a team spirit or a connection with the fans, having said that I believe he used 30 odd at farnboro last year though 11 of those were practically ever presents. The embargo may have helped..... Certainly youth development will be impeded should the revolving door be put back into service.

This is my only reservation of Steve King's return. I suspect he'll plug any gaps with stop gap journeymen rather than our own youngsters. However his starting eleven, homegrown or not, will be winners and quality players.

I haven't heard such good news for years. Well done Board and thanks to King for helping a struggling Ryman side return to its proper place - beating Crawley. I am glad that most of the feedback here is positive. I expect the whingers will carry on being pessimistic. In fact, the better SK and the team perform, the more they will whinge –they are either Eastbourne supporters or are hiding on the Costa del Crime. So I think promotion by Christmas should be the target. My only fear is that King may be lured away. But I think he can get us back to the BSP and if he is allowed to stay, we will at least remain at that level. This could be the best three years at the pan the club has ever seen. I'm sure the youth set up and every other aspect of the club is going to benefit too. Sangrias all round.

Well that appointment came out of left field didn't it.... In my last post, I admitted to being a SK doubter, in particular with the revolving doors policy about which enough has been said. To give the guy some credit, Farnborough's successful season last year seemed to be based round a settled, talented squad. Transfer embargo or not, that is a solid achievement. I trust in the board and SK has my full backing for the coming season...for the first time since 2007 I am actually looking forward to a pre-season! Some chinese dude said "there are no lessons in victory, but a thousand lessons in defeat." I have no doubt that ours is a wiser club than that which endured near meltdown 3 years ago. So lets raise a glass to what will hopefully be a bright future for our community owned football club. Who's round is it?

If King can have a winning team on a shoestring budget then all will be well but there wont be any point of getting promoted and getting into debt again. Time will tell who was right and who was wrong

Only those with short memories will expect to win every game in what will probably be a pretty tough league. We certainly had some downs among the ups under SK – albeit not a great many of them – and there's no guarantee we'll be fighting for promotion at the end of the season. What can surely be guaranteed is good football and a buzz around the terraces. Can't wait for the new season to start . . .

there wont be any point of getting promoted and getting into debt again.g After putting so much time, effort, sweat, blood and tears into rescuing the club after the last financial fiasco I can't believe that Chairman Ibbo and the BoD would allow the club to get back into debt like that again no matter who the manager is or what he wants the money for. For me we now have The Dream Team: Great chairman. Brilliant BoD. Proven successful manager. The only way is up now. Come on you Rooks.

I would like add my congratulations to the board for making, what to me is a bold move.
I too have my reservations about SK but the one thing I think we need to do as a club, is to get back to BSS football as soon as possible and I have no doubt SK can and will do that.
The integrity of the board is the one thing that is consistent on all threads on our forum and quite rightly so. I believe that this board will keep finances under control and so our rise back to where I think we belong will be steady and at sustainable pace, I just hope the boards ambition and that of SK stay on the same level because it has the potential to be a match made in heaven.
True I'm not quite so excited as some but also I'm not being pessimistic about the appointment of SK, more cautiously optomistic. The one thing that you can say about being a Lewes supporter is that there is never a dull moment at the dripping pan.
COME ON YOU ROOKS FOR THE 2011/2012 SEASON

I think somersetrook means the overall goings on at the club off the pitch, not individual matches nickyboi! Completely agree with his post, I think it is great people are getting excited, but also hope that these people aren't expecting miracles! If we have steady progress to get back to the BSS (maybe not even in one season) then I will be well happy!
Come on you Rooks!
