What annoys me about all this is that anyone who would like to see Steve King back at the Pan is, to use a few of the terms used on here recently, either an SK slave, an SK disciple, an SK lover or an SK fan. I would like to see him back, as the guy is a proven good manager, but I wouldn't consider myself as any of those. In fact there are one or two things I don't like about the way he does the job. As for boom and bust.......well, for the umpteenth time, surely it's the purse string holders number one priority to make sure the new manager, whoever that may be, has an agreed affordable budget and make it crystal clear that no more money will be available for players.

Quite The boom and bust thing is rubbish. Martin Elliott gave King the suicide budgets and funds, no manager turns around and says its too much. King will, if given the job, be given the same budget as Tosh would have had and as a manager will stick within those lines, if not he should be kicked out the door but as the Board sanction the money it won't happen

I would assume that at the interviews the applicants are told the playing budget and their personal renumeration. If they can't work to it then it should be "Thank you. Goodbye. Next please.....". Whoever it may be.

It will be interesting to see what emerges re the 'sacking' of SK at Farnborough. Without knowing the facts, but having got the idea that Farnborough haven't been awash with cash recently, I do wonder how they could afford to fire a manager who had a year left to run on his contract. But it's a funny old game . . .

I thought the budget was being reduced from last season. Certainly part of the reason given by Tosh as to why he had already decided he would be unable to continue.
I still have concerns that a full time manager is necessary at this level and is not an unnecessary extravagance. Time will tell where we are going.
Boom n bust will happen should the new BoD not keep a very tight rein on any new manager and budget. Certainly a proper business plan based on finances should be made and never exceeded whatever the success on the pitch maybe unless substantial unexpected funds are realised. Having witnessed mistakes made in the past from close quarters, just don't want to read from afar about similar mistakes being repeated in the future.

I heard Tosh was given extra funds, on top of the budget, last season to keep us up when things went from bleak to very bleak. No idea how much though. I totally agree with the rest of your post.

My thoughts exactely spur.. if sacked, there had best be a valid reason or I sense an industrial tribunal. In which case not sure how that would stand if alternative employment was gained.

Well the Argus thinks its King because he has left Farnborough and will not contact them.Bit of a retrograde step if true. Lovely bloke and a great manager but how often does a return work and can we afford him, anyway maybe a load of Tosh!

I hope we know soon, and everything is going smoothly, the decision has been put off for quite a while now considering at first we were supposed to know by the weekend, then at the end of the weekend, then early in this week and now maybe mid week!
