Even as 'Fingers' was mowing the grass of the hallowed ground of the Dripping Pan last night, the Under 18s prospects were training over the wall on the grass of the Convent Field. A happy and smiling Sin my opinionn Wormull was looking pretty pleased with the set-up and the youngsters all seemed fired up and enthusiastic. So all bodes well. A vital component of the future of Lewes FC seems to be falling into place. Please come along and support the youngsters at their games not least because we need the gate income (just £3) and raffle ticket sales to provide the income to pay for the officials etc. That notwithstanding, in recent history the football has been pretty good too and I reckon with Sin my opinionn's input should get even better next season. With Kingy pledged to take an even more keen interest in the youth development I think we have a great opportunity in the next season or two to bring forward local players to the standard we need for whatever level we are headed for as a club. It doesn't matter if at the end of the day we have players who don't make it at that level; they will have had the opportunity and that's what goes into the great balancing act, the sporting scales of life.

Spot on. This website should make sure everybody knows when the youth and women are playing. I usually go to the forum because it's easy. Give the youth and women a great big slab of website space on the left just above the forum patch and we shall all be able to follow our rookies and rookettes - I just made that up - there is a reason for cabinet sauvignon.

:DI'm partial to Harveys Best, champagne and pinot grigio (not necessarily in that order as if I get it wrong I sneeze), but I agree with Jonathan, there is a reason for that cabinet sauvignon being where it is. At around 10.30pm on a Tuesday night in July I'm not sure what that particular reason is ... but I'm sure my wife's behind it. Now for the avoidance of doubt I believe it's my wife behind the reason and not my wife that's behind the cabinet. Although I haven't seen her for the last half hour or so ....

See another ex-youngster signed for Hastings - Freddie Foreman - thought he was quite good so good luck to him. Jason says in Argus he is losing players to County League teams who are paying more (!) e.g. Rye. Bizarre - where do they get their money....

:DI can say that both Ibbo, Kingy and Youth Manager Sin my opinionn Wormull are hugely impressed with the crop of youngsters turning out in training for the Rooks and I reckon we can see a number featuring in the First Team PDQ. Good luck to them all. The best thing we Rooks fans can do is support the youngsters in all the Under 18 games as it is an amazing boost to confidence if there is voluble encouragement from the terraces in a 'bread and butter' match. We will make a big, big effort to get the fixtures out as early as possible.
The club is seeking sponsors for the Under 18s so if you know of companies / individuals who may be interested in encouraging young Sussex sportsmen in the environment of the wonderful Dripping Pan please get in touch with the club via the official website. Or direct to me at: david@lewesfc.com

Sponsors, fund raising, bar etc. Also the County League sides have lower costs, such as travelling. I'm sure that makes a difference. At some clubs less than 20% of the income comes through the gate.
