:DExcellent turn-out this evening for the second Artists United art sale in aid of the Rooks held in the Foundry down in the depths of North Street. Seventy items of paintings, sculptures and photographs on sale with 45% of the proceeds going to Lewes FC. By far the best photograph for me was James Boyes's picture of David Wheeler and Chris Breach in seventh heaven as a winning goal went in. A superb second's action captured in time and the resulting photograph signed by all three participants (the third being James). Not surprisingly it was snapped up pronto for, I believe, £300. Maybe James will now produce a limited edition of prints. The show goes on daily from 11am to 5pm daily until Sunday so please pay a visit if you can. In addition to the copius works of art by Lewes artists we have Lewes FC memorabilia aplenty on display (worth a look-see in its own right) plus club regalia on sale.

..And Season Tickets at amazing value* plus Share certificates where you can buy a chunk of Lewes FC with full voting rights for as little as £30 per annum. We are the Barcelona of Sussex so get involved and be part of the action. *£150 per adult or £75 for concessions on tickets applied for by 16 July. You can walk into Artists United and walk out with your Season Ticket. And maybe have a celebratory drink at the bar and congratulate yourself on your good and prudent commonsense in snapping up a bargain.

And Stephen King was there – not dressed in a natty suit but in training kit. I told you he might be making an appearance on the pitch.
