We are a bunch of singers from Glyndebourne and as wee approach the end of our season at the end of august, we just wanted to say that we had an absolutely brilliant time at The Pan for the 4 games we attended at the end of last season. I am now a Rook for life owing to the friendly nature of what is obviously a brilliant community club. We will certainly be at the Havant friendly and hope the fixture list is kind enough to give us a chance to see one or two games before we leave. I am mainly based in london and a trip to see the boys at home or in the area of london would be great. If there is a mailing list or something to be kept up to date about travel arrangements to away games i would be most grateful if someone could pass me the details.
Come on you Rooks!

:DSo nice to hear from you guys and you are always welcome at the Dripping Pan and so glad you enjoyed yourselves. Imagine the atmosphere if we are actually winning games! Which we will most certainly be doing next season. Now can anyone dig out Charlie's recording of your nessun dorma rendition and repost it here? Maybe a job for the ever-resourceful PJ?

Brilliant link Rev Rook. I missed the bonfire cup but there were the crucial final goals. As for the tenors, I shall send that link to my Milan friends. Not many hang around in the San Siro after full time. They are missing a lot. Maybe my fictitious brass band could add Nessun dorma to the gig set.

:DNessun dorma. Those guys sang in the early evening long after the unhappy conclusion of our last home game of last season. But the guy got it absolutely right when he said the Rooks would go on. Call me a sentimental old fool but suddenly I want to hear that Peters & Lee song 'Welcome Home' yet again. Unfortunately I'm hopeless with all this technology and can't get back to it. Maybe PJ or The Rev to the rescue? Sorry to everyone else - but you have choices, you don't have to play it!

I'm not sure this one would work with the brass band. Maybe through the Tannoy. I seem to remember rumours that the male in Peters and Lee wasn't blind but was just pretending. There was then a debate: Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles definitely blind; Roy Orbison and the bloke in Peters and Lee - just wearing shades; the lead singer in Mud - definitely sighted and just wearing shades for fun. Oh happy days. Not that any of their output was my favourite at the time - I think I prefered Bowie, Mott the Hoople and Lou Reed.

Anyway you tenors, come back next season because we are going to win. I say two weeks after Christmas and the kit man reckons a month or two afterwards. Warm up at the Pan and you'll be ready to stretch you vocal cords later in the Glyndebourne area.

:DReference to our kit man. He's Pav - so named after a strong resemblance to Pavarotti, the famous opera singer who made Nessun Dorma immortal in the World Cup in Italy many years ago. So the opera circle of this thread is joined. Another coincidence. Watch for a horse in the next couple of days!

I've never heard him sing, David. Maybe we could have a five tenors concert at the end of next season.
