:DIn answer to Nickg's question on another thread I can confirm that the Season Tickets have arrived today (Tuesday) and we'll be sending them out over the next few days to all those who have applied so far. They are made of excellent quality plastic and look the business. Remember, you have until 16 July to take advantage of the superb prices of £150 for adults and £75 for concessions before the price takes a hike upwards.

Very encouraging to see that over a third of Season Ticket applications received so far are from folk living outside of Lewes, mostly Brighton but others from Seaford, Uckfield and even London. I personally haven't spoken to anyone who says they will be giving up supporting the Rooks next season because they will be following Brighton in their new Amex Stadium. Lots have said they will go to Brighton games as and when they can but non-league Lewes remains the priority. That attitude for non-league fans makes big sense to me. Both clubs can live alongside each other and hopefully both will thrive. So long as the Seagulls do not change their name to Brighton & Lewes Albion as Lewes is now closer to their ground than Hove is, actually.
Anyway, get your Season Ticket applications in pronto if you haven't already done so. At £150 for adults and £75 for concessions they are fantastic value for a season that promises so much.

I would imagine there are others like me that are waiting for the fixtures to be published because as a Brighton season ticket holder I want to see how many Lewes games clash with Albion matches to see if it best to get a Lewes season ticket or pay on the gate.
Hopefully I can do this before 16th July.

Got my certificate and badge today great certificate, better send cheque for my season ticket now. So looking forward to this season David can't find anyone offering odds on Lewes at the moment but I would be very surprised if the odds are that low no value at all.

Hi Kev. My info on the 7-2 price came from Brian 'The Badge' Ashdown who enquired of Blue Square and when pressed they responded with a price but probably not one they have officially posted. Bookies will give you a price on anything if you press them. But 7-2 is hopeless and I wouldn't touch it. You like your horses so stick to my current 'anything with a royal or king-like theme to it' theory and you will not go far wrong.
I love coincidence bets. Thirty years ago on the day that our reluctant to be born first son was being induced I asked Barbara to pick a suitable horse to mark the occasion. She chose 'Mummy's Song' on the grounds that around midnight she expected to be 'singing' mighty loudly. The horse was a hopeless outsider having never won anything. I stuck a pound on the nose. It won at 50-1. Did I feel stupid with such a small wager. I think it was Johnny Winter, the former Lewes wrestler, who paid me out in the bookies by the War Memorial (now the Tote and soon to be Fredbet). He asked how the hell did I find that winner. I didn't tell him the truth. Since then I've never underestimated the power of coincidence. It's like gravity - you can't see or touch it or even explain it. But it happens.

Thanks David will be looking for a more realistic 12-1 when they put the odds up. Nice story about your first born I agree if you have a feeling about something then go for it. Is there a horse called King wins Ryman ? that would get my money ha!

:DBlimey - the coincidences go on. Stuck a tenner on Mandalay King in the 9.15pm at Doncaster tonight and it duly obliged at 11-2. Lovely jubbly.

That's a big choice. Only two Kings ran today. Mandalay King which I backed and another called King Kieran which besides it being quoted at 33-1 I thought - no way! I think the key is to pick a 'king' that the Racing Post / odds gives a fighting chance to win. Watch this space.

:DI sifted through all those Kings kindly posted by the Rev and have applied my theory of backing those with a good chance of winning. Pleased to say that Kingswinford has just duly obliged as 5/2 favourite in the 6.10 at Chester. Now I wait on Kingsdine in the 8.05 at Chepstow and Kings Council in the 9.20 at Chester but I've already recovered my outlay so another happy day. Funnily enough, Ladbrokes in the Cliffe forgot to put up the Chester page from the Racing Post so I had to ask if the meeting was on. Of course it was but many thanks to the Rev for his timely homework otherwise I would never have known. Rooks fan Steve who works in Ladbrokes is monitoring my 'royal' financial progress with wry amusement.

As the equine subject matter I've been posting on this thread isn't about football I'm going to move my horseracing stuff down on to the 'Terraces'. See the posting 'All the King's Horses'. Incidentally, if I had put a fiver on all 10 horses with the word 'king' in their name that ran in races in the British Isles yesterday I would have laid out £50 and got a return of £187.50. As it happened I backed three 'kings' at a fiver each and got a total back of £17.50. Result: Happiness tinged with a bit of regret about not nacking the other seven. No wonder they call it the Sport of Kings!
