:DHelp! Help! I've become addicted to that seconds-long musical intro to the Steve King 'Welcome Home' interview that's somewhere way back down on this site. It was Peters & Lee. Maybe it's because I'm a baby boomer. Maybe I'm just sad. But I really like it now though I thought it naff at the time. Whatever - blog over - so close the door!

Blimey David are you okay? The next thing you will be telling us is that you also like "Chirpy,Chirpy Cheep Cheep". Hope we have a pre season friendly soon to take your mind off it!!

Try something else. I think there are quite a few songs with King in the title.

How about a brass band for the first home friendly: "Sussex by the sea" followed by "God save the King" then, "We are the Champions", "I get knocked down" and "Eye of the Tiger" over the Tannoy, and as the teams come out, "Lewes soli con te" (yet to be recorded)?

Maybe not "We are the Champions" Woking did that when they came down from the conference and it seemed rather scummy seeing as they haven't yet been promoted back up when they think they are the biggest club in the BSBS. All the others would be quite fun to have.

:DAbsolutely brilliant PJ. Many thanks for your research. It's just that now I'm hooked on the whole blooming wonderful song that transports me back almost four decades in time with every playing. And in somewhat black humor for which I apologise in advance the phrase 'in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king' suddenly sounds so very relevant.

When I was kid, I recall standing on the bank (under a large tree) behind the goal with a sloping footpath that ran down to the clubhouse (remember that path anyone?) listening to "Chirpy chirpy tweet tweet" being played over the tannoy !
It wasn't any better then !!

The path holds tond memories lol i remember standing there on the path watching us hammer clapton 9-1 in sub zero temps with stokes and justin harris running the midfield in them days and big ross standen between the sticks and dom sheppard and sam francis banging the goals in and the evergreen paul thompsett destroying everyone with his pace including people probably half his age, fond memories indeed

:DYes, yes yes. Remember it all. Wonderful times. But 'welcome home' is surely the theme of the moment. Play it again ... and again ... it's brilliant!

Considering we have got some familiar players returning surely this would be a good anthem:

you can't go wrong with a thick slice of Thin Lizzy on the PA before a game. Pretty hard to sing though.

"Boys are back" is genius. Rev Rooks aerial shot is brilliant. I think I must have moved to Lewes the next year. On the aerial shot, the by-pass and tunnel are in place but there is no Tesco!

Are BHA still wearing the Tesco plastic bag strip now that they have a new stadium?

Having made that cheap jab at our big brother, I recall that Tesco started with a shop in Kensington Gardens in Brighton (as did Body Shop). Did Tesco base it's livery on the BHA strip?
