Related to a post in the 'pre-season' thread, I was wondering what the relative positives and negatives would be of recording games and creating a highlights package?
I can't imagine there would a significant cost involved purchasing equipment and it would be a superb reference point for those who cannot make games or generating interest to attract new supporters.
Apologies if this has been discussed before somewhere else here...

I like it, and perhaps to cover the costs could do it as a 'premium' package on the website requiring a small subscription fee. Could even be given free to those who are signing up for the shares as an extra incentive!

If (a big if) the club could buy the equipment, I'm sure we could gather up a 'pool' of supporters who could film on a rotating basis. I certainly would mind doing so on the odd occassion.
Perhaps we could gather some advice from Havant who do their highlights particularly well.

This was looked into a few years ago and ofcourse the seasons compilation was made. I think it was Proworks who did the recording and editing. With modern day equipment it probably wouldn't cost much to do, it is the editing and uploading that is time consuming though not rocket science.
Certainly as an exile I would welcome this and be happy to pay a reasonable subsrciption.

I reckon it'd be more hassle than it's worth to manage a subscription service. Plus, if you're charging, you have to maintain a decent professional service every game which may not be viable with volunteers.

Don't think it should be a fee service I don't think any club in the BSS charges for theirs. Even Havants one (which is really good) is free.

How would we go about contacting the BoD to look into the matter? Nothing concrete, just a bit of thought and consultation. On the basis of impartiality, I assume they aren't regular contributors to this forum...

Maybe we can copy the University of Winchester model. They University cover Eastleigh and Basingstoke as part of their courses and put a highlights programme on Youtube. www.winol.co.uk/
