Does anyone know the average attendance of a pre season friendly at the pan as I think it could well be double for our first this year whoever we play. Stevie Kings Barmy Army

I don't doubt we will get a few more in, not got any figures but I have been to a lot of them over the last few years and it has been around 150-200 mark.

Think you can expect 400 plus for the first home friendly taking into account holidays etc. I believe we could see gates in excess of 600 this year, lot more when BHA are away

How about a pre-season friendly Lewes FC vs Lewes Ladies - or a mixed match?

Doesn't that break the EU rules on sex discrimination? Anyway it's only a friendly - what's that got to do with the FA? Lewes ladies are one of the best sides in the country - maybe we could put on the match, televise it and make a point. Talking of televising. Could some of our media-connected friends arrange a reality documentary about a non-league club making its way back up the league system and get the club some revenue in the process? Or is that against the rules too? If MUFC can have a couple of SKY channels to themselves, then I don't see why LFC can't have a hit reality show including highlights of the home games.

What it has to do with the FA is that mixed football over age 13 is not allowed in the UK. Were Lewes to flout this they could end up being banned from competitions under jurisdiction which could mean we were kicked out of the Rymans. Probably not a price worth paying. Personally I agree with you though, in most countries it is left to the individual. Sadly in the UK the heath and safety brigade and the risk of being sued has the upper hand. I think Lewes ladies would have given O'Shea's team a good game.

I might be wrong but i thought we were going to avoid being at home the same time as BHA, due to the use of the train station and us both being in Lewes District ?

Would make sense Steve and also would be the ideal solution.

I gather a request has already gone to to the FA (or whoever) that Lewes and BHA do not play at home on same day

I gather a request has already gone to to the FA (or whoever) that Lewes and BHA do not play at home on same day We have indeed made a request to the Ryman League that our and B&HA home games do not clash due to the proximity of the grounds and the affect the new stadium will have on our gates. The Football League fixtures are released mid-June whereas the Ryman League come out mid-July which should allow plenty of time for the Rymans to avoid any clashes.

As mentioned by SK, we're down on the St Neots Town website as "Lewis". 16th of July. www.stneotsfc.com/news/article1077.htmlOn the other hand it could be the real Lewis FC coming down from the Hebrides

That is one hectic schedule they have set themselves. 10 home matches in a month ! Good idea having a mini season ticket for the friendlies though.

This first friendly got me thinking about the eagerly awaited first friendly of Kingy's last reign.
Some friendly! It became known as The Battle of Oakwood.
Some Oakwood players seemed to think it was a cup final. Thigh high tackles, trips, wrestling, kung fu kicks, and eventually a 20+ player brawl broke out after a spectator tripped up a Lewes triallist going down the wing. I can vividly remember Cabes threatening to deck said supporter and Cliff trying to break it up with a pint in his hand. I think the ref abandoned it after an hour.
Anybody else have memories of that very strange day?

I remember it pretty much as you told it PJ. I didn't see Cabes actually land the punch, but he certainly wound it up from a long way back! Cliff was a non pint spilling peacemaker. Pretty sure it was the Adeniyi brothers pulling the Kung Fu. We ended up with the genius that was Peter Adeniyi, while his brother Junior disappeared after the Oakwood match to take up a successful career as Jackie Chan's stunt double. Amazing scenes, glad to have been there, and the reason why I will be doing my upmost to be at St Neots. They appear to be managed by Dennis Greene. Assume it is the same Dennis Greene as used to manage Windsor when we battled with them in Ryman One South.
