Real fox in the box. I Remember the two goals he got in his first game against Ashford Town.

Lee Newman received an award for scoring 100 goals for Lewes. Lee Farrell helped out a lot too.

It was in the days when we knew the players. Happy days are here again.

There is lots of debate on the various forums about the ethics and morals of Tooting signing (sorry!) a convicted criminal. I can understand the "fors" and "againsts" but I personally would probably come down on the side of giving someone a second chance after paying their debt to society.
The funny thing, though, is the Tooting manager trying to justify it by saying "it was all an injustice". What does he know that the judge and jury didn't then?

Really pleased he's found a new club. He's served his time. Good luck to the lad.

I seem to remember Mark Beard being involved at Haywards Heath when Lee signed for them in County League Div 3. Reading the article I think it was just an unfortunate choice of phrase.

None of you know the details that led this lad to his present position. He kept his mouth shut and took the blow. He is totally respected by his family and friends for his actions. Those of you who not know the circumstances should just accept that sometimes good people are captured by the ways of the world. I invite any of you with a problem on this to speak to Lees father or brother.

He's served his time so no probs with him playing again whether for Lewes or another club. Agree with pj though that it's not really for the Tooting manager to say there was an injustice...far better to just say that he has accepted his punishment and deserves a second chance, which I believe everyone is entitled to.
Wonder what people think about the Scottish player who was put on the sex offenders' register after conviction recently, and after lots of public pressure has been suspended by his club and not allowed to play. Given he had already been punished in the way the judge thought was right, should he be punished again by not being allowed to play again?

I love LN as for his contribution to Lewes much as anyone else but being a parent of teenage children his not the person I want around them. So if I speak to Lee's brother or father What's going to happen I got the garb that he was inocent. See you at St N.

He was found guilty in a British Court of Law. Now we all know the justice system in this country is not perfect by a long chalk, and it may very well be that Lee was innocent. As a great admirer of his efforts in a Rooks shirt years ago I really would like to think he was. But the present system is all we have and until someone comes up with something better we have to abide by the decisions made by it. Even the wrong ones.
