Quite harsh that the new manager has come in and not really had a look at him....but its football and it does happen when managers have their own ideas. But still a bit odd, as the player could be the next Ian Wright or another late developer!
Still, good luck to Ross at Hastings, he should be a very good player for them, and Id imagine we will see a couple more Lewes players going there, very good place to send our fringe players on loan.

Getting slightly worried seeing young talent like Sutton and Gradwell, brilliant end of last season and no service this, being replaced by journeymen without the gaffer getting a good look at them. Surely his remit should be to develop young, local and new talent (normally in many cases on tiny wages) not just source players he already knows the capabilities of. I thought as a community club we were to go along this road. Of course we need a mix of youth and experience so I will remain optimistically cautious re the squad make up. We started the season sensibly as a community club with wage bill 60% per cent of turnover, many people in football consider this a sensible figure. I would wager it is considerably more than that now

At the Open Meeting a few weeks ago the Board confirmed that Tim and Neil have exactly the same playing budget that Ibbo and Jason had. That remains the case. We also outlined our view that young players coming through 'the system' is what we all want to see in an ideal world. It makes financial sense and it's consistent with being a 'community club'. Equally, Tim and Neil were brought in when we were bottom of the league. They evaluated the current squad and made their choices. The Board don't interfere with playing matters. We believe our job is to back the football management to assemble the squad they regard as necessary to keep Lewes FC in this division and to progress. We still have many terrific young players in our squad: Murphy, Porter, Godfrey, Olima, Wheeler, Pearson, Winterton, Crellin, Green, Ide (sadly out for the rest of this season) are all under 23 I believe. And once our league position improves I suspect Tim and Neil will give opportunities to some of our Under 18's too. Be assured, the vision remains the same.

I'd like to second what Patrick has said.
From an u18s point of view, the view is that bringing young players into a struggling side fighting for survival in the league isn't the best environment to develop them.
There was going to be 2 under 18 players involved in the game at Hampton & Richmond Borough which was of course called off. Tim also specifically asked for u18s for the Sussex Senior Cup match against Shoreham, Max Howell, Jordan Lang, Layton Schaaf & Harry Bowles all played a part and Nathan Hayward was an unused sub.
No under 18 players were used in the Margate friendly match (which I heard a few question) for the simple reason the u18s had Hassocks the day after, and Tonbridge on the Monday. Both were competitive matches (one cup, one league). Two games in two days is bad enough, so to try and get three in three was never an option.
Tim regularly asks for updates on the u18s, as does Neil & Paul Emerson. The u18s have now joined the first team at their new training venue.

I take on board the points above I am aware the budget is supposed to remain the same, however at the meeting a couple of months ago it was stated clearly this was going up from 60% of projected turnover to 75% with the monies raised from the £50,000 injection from the small investors soaking up any shortfall at the end of the season. The stated aim of the Board was to run the club on a sensible self sustaining budget to find our natural level. The kneejerk response to a massive injury crisis at the start of the season was premature. So we sub the manager for a couple of years 'til the money runs out? Been there I believe nine players have been bulldozed in, not so much the subtle changes made by Ibbo at the tail end of last season which saw us playing the sort of football you would expect near the other end of the table we are now, with mainly young homegrown talent. Lets remind ourselves of the dream of the Board succinctly summed up in a quote from Paul Haywards excellent Observer article, quite rightly proudly displayed on the first page of our website with crowd watching 'the efforts of a mostly homegrown side.' Now we seem to pummel the opposition player rather than goal, fisticuffs again yesterday. Ill discipline which is rife has to be stopped and again does not sit comfortably with a Community Club I believe passionately in the ideals of a Community Club and having attended a meeting was very impressed with the the passion and knowledge of the business of some of the members of the Board. I do believe we are straying from the original ideals both with budget and squad make. I take on board Kierans points about the young players at the club and how the management want to use them, time will tell. However they kept us up last season on I believe HALF this seasons budget. I would personally sooner see local players playing their heart out at a lower level if that is the true level for our club, although of course Ibbo managed to keep us in BSS. Ibbo worked wonders last season with a young squad and set out this season with his increased budget to add the experience we needed to blend with the youth. We all thought mid table was achievable. What can you say, injuries happen, you stick by your manager He said he wanted to leave but had said that the previous two seasons and stayed and the I don't care about the cries of unfair he wanted to leave, the Board should have moved heaven and earth to keep a manager who has Community Club written through him. I realise Tosh is at the helm now and of course having been given the budget his only job is to secure our position in BSS, but in an appointment of manager the Board need assurances that the Community Club values are adhered to and the use of the younger players is just not lip service. Time will tell in the programme last game of the season when we see the squad players involved in the games. As I said previously I remain optimistically cautious and results wise realise Tosh needs time for players to gel and if what I saw at the St Albans game can be played consistently we should be fine, for now expect the odd poor team and individual performance.

Just been looking at the Hastings website and seen that Manning and Sutton are on "dual registration" does this mean that we can still play them and that they also belong to us or does it mean something else?
