With heavy snow predicted again tonight the chances of the game being played have to be very slim.

Thanks for the photos, Keiran. From looking at those, it seems unlikely that the game will go ahead tomorrow. I know I have asked this on another thread, but does anyone know if a pitch inspection has been planned for tomorrow morning, as some Blue Square Premier games have already been called off tonight?

Foregone conclusion, due to the condition of the terraces as well as the pitch.

Surprisingly, the terraces aren't too bad. Ok, obviously there was snow on the Mountfield Road side, but it wasn't a huge amount that can't be dealt with.

Is it worth people going down trying to clear the pitch tomorrow morning with shovels etc - I'm up for it - or is it pointless/make no difference?

As we live close enough, could get updates on the pitch and then perhaps post on here for help?
Eastleigh managed it.

Never mind the game, what fantastic photos!
If the pitch is not frozen, maybe a team of volunteers could clear it. I will watch out for a post asking for help and will come down if asked.

See the scrap thread for the underlying problem with the frosty bit picture taken before the Hampton game. As I said happy to help tomorrow morning if someone posts - will watch out as well.

Shows the shaded area on here that the sun doesn't reach too.

Great pictures esp the view from the terrace. You should get that printed out and put up on wall when the bar gets re-decorated

How is the pitch looking at the moment? I ask this because, the snow appears to be clearing now and, with the temperatures expected to increase over the next couple of days, there could be a chance of the game being played on Tuesday if the pitch is starting to improve.

Does anyone have any idea? As I said earlier, the snow has pretty much cleared on most fields, but the ice that stays on the surface because of the low temperatures overnight could prove to be a problem.

the melted snow is not going to cause waterlogged type problems is it?
i saw at the weekend that Hastings managed to play their home game...I reckon you need to get all that snow off before it melts.

good drainage at Hastings plus the pitch is sand based

This is what I was thinking. The snow should melt fairly quickly now, but it could mean that the pitch is waterlogged. Also, with the temperature dropping below freezing every night, we could be left with the same problem as last Wednesday, with most of the pitch playable except the area by The Rookery.

So would a similar appeal to this done by Hampton help:
The Pitch - An appeal Steve McPherson has asked me to post the following.....
With the weather forecast not looking so great for the rest of the week the club are doing everything possible to ensure Boxing Day's game goes ahead. I am asking if any fans may have access to groundsheets or tarpaulins could they please contact Stef via email on stefan.rance@taagl.com or Mark at the club on 020 8979 2456. We are looking to cover the area from the goaline to the edge of the 18 yard box at the Simpson Stand end. It was only the area in the goalmouths and by the corner flag that caused Saturday's game to be called off and if we can get these covered for the rest of the week we should have no concerns regarding the fixture based on the current forecast.
Many thanks for your support
Steve

I have one sheet I could lend. Its not huge (about 20'x20') but with a few others might do the trick.
